Designed by Chelles and Hayashi, the Rio 2016 Olympic torch features moveable segments that expand vertically to reveal colours chosen to symbolise elements of Brazil's landscape (golden sun, green mountains, blue sea and Copacabana's dark blue sidewalks) when the flame is passed between torchbearers. The torch is made from recycled aluminium and is covered in a pearl white epoxy resin. A coloured enamel Rio 2016 Olympic logo is feature on the top section. The triangular shape symbolises the three Olympic values: excellence, friendship and respect. This torch was used during the torch relay through Brazil.
