Brief Description
Medal and sash awarded to Iddo Munro for fastest time in Warrnambool to Melbourne race, 1909. Light blue colour silk sash (mostly faded to cream/ brown) with metallic coil tassels and painted inscription reads "AUSTRALASIAN ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP,/ SEASON 1909-10. ". Medal has engraved shield centre and wings extending from the sides. Inscription on the shield reads, " DUNLOP/ BLUE RIBAND AND BADGE/ PRESENTED TO/ I. R. MUNRO/ IN RECOGNITION OF/ ESTABLISHING FASTEST TIME/ IN THE/ WARRNAMBOOL TO MELBOURNE/ ROAD RACE - 165 MILES/ TIME 7HRS 13 MINS 51 SECS/ DATE - 2ND OCT 09/ WORLD'S RECORD". Reverse has broken pin joints and makers mark stamped at bottom indicating sterling silver.
