Object Detail

Brief Description
Home-made over counter made from the back of a fob-watch case. Round, grey-painted tin or other light metal, with a lever fashioned in the shape of a hook extending out over the edge of the circle from the centre. The numbers 1 through 8 are etched in a clockwise direction around the face, and notches have been made on the edges to correspond with the numbers. The hook was pushed one notch to the right to mark each ball in an over during a game of cricket, and was used in the late 1930s.
