Brief Description
Cricket bat of dark wood, unsealed, spliced blade with worn leather hand grip. Front bears stamped impression of the maker's details. It reads, in part, "...KING'S INTERNAL / PATENT / SPRING / H.KING / MELBOURNE / 1ST AWARD M.C.L.E. / 1889 / AGAINST WORLD". Lower section of blade bound by string. Gold stamped inscription on reverse, reads, "PRESENTED TO / W. BRUCE. ESQ / BY MR. H. KING / HIGHEST INDIVL SCORE / ENGLAND / V AUSTRALIA / 1892".
