Brief Description
Poster featuring large cartoon images of a kangaroo (left) and a lion (right) in cricket attire, facing off against each other. The kangaroo represents the Australian cricket team, whilst the lion represents the English cricket team. The kangaroo and lion have one hand each on a silhouette of the Ashes urn, located at the top centre of the image. Both animals are dressed in batting gear consisting of pads, boots, and padded gloves. Both animals also have the logo of their respective counties printed on the chest of their shirt, as well as on their hats. The kangaroo is wearing an Australian baggy green cap, whilst the lion is wearing a blue English helmet. The kangaroo is holding a cricket bat in his right hand, and the lion is holding a cricket bat in his left hand. A facsimile of the artist's signature is printed on the poster below the kangaroo's tail. Publisher's banner at top of poster above cartoon reads 'Herald Sun'. Title below cartoon reads 'BOXING DAY '98'. Text below title reads 'Fourth Ansett Australia Test, Australia v England, 26-30 December, 1998./ Price: $2. All proceeds to the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children's Hospital./An official product of the Australian Cricket Board and the Victorian Cricket Association'. There is an Australian Cricket Board logo in the bottom left hand corner of the poster, and a Victorian Bushrangers (Victorian Cricket Team) logo in the bottom right hand corner of the poster. Reverse of poster is plain.
