Brief Description
Poster featuring large cartoon images of an anthropomorphised protea flower (left) and a kangaroo (right). The protea represents the South African cricket team, whilst the kangaroo represents the Australian cricket team. The protea is dressed in cricket whites and boots. The kangaroo is dressed in cricket whites, a baggy green cap, and batting attire consisting of pads, boots, and padded gloves. The protea is leaning upwards off the ground and glaring at the kangaroo with a cricket ball in his left hand. Left chest of protea's cricket shirt bears an image of a protea flower and the text 'SOUTH/AFRICA'.The kangaroo is holding a cricket bat in his left hand and is glaring at the protea. The artist has signed the poster in black marker between the feet of the two figures. A facsimile of the artist's signature is printed on the poster below the kangaroo's tail.Publisher's banner at top of poster above cartoon reads 'Herald Sun'. Title below cartoon reads 'BOXING DAY '97'. Text below title reads 'First Ansett Australia Test, Australia v South Africa, 26-30 December, 1997. Price $2.
