Brief Description
Blue silk scarf. Central design on scarf depicts a large map of Australia with the Australian coat of arms in the middle. Heading above map reads 'VIIth/British Empire and Commonwealth Games/1962/PERTH WESTERN AUSTRALIA'. A montage of smaller images of figures participating in sporting events are printed to the left of and below the central design. Sports featured are: hammer throw, pole vault, marathon, running, hurdles, boxing, and javelin. Border of scarf features images of Australian flora and fauna. Western Australia's floral emblem (red and green kangaroo paw) and faunal bird emblem (the black swan) are represented at the top right and bottom left hand corners of the border.
