Brief Description
Engraving of a group of seven cricketers, standing no a cricket pitch with a pavilion and a flag in the background. Four of the players are holding or leaning on cricket bats, and a ball and a set of stumps is visible in the middle of the picture. Caption under image attributes the figures in the pictures to be the following (from left to right): 'C.I.THORNTON, ESQ.'; 'C.E.GREEN, ESQ.'; 'W.G.GRACE, ESQ.', 'V.E.WALKER, ESQ.'; 'F.C.COBDEN, ESQ.'; 'W.B.MONEY, ESQ.'; 'F.E.R.FRYER, ESQ.'. Title beneath image reads 'CRICKET-GROUP OF CRACK GENTLEMAN PLAYERS'. Source of image (The Graphic) is printed along page margin on right. Reverse of engraving (p. 154) carries a range of other news articles.
