Brief Description
Soft plate etching hand coloured with watercolour. Picture shows a cricket match in progress on the lawn in front of a stately home. There are 14 figures involved in the match. Three other figures are standing in a group in the background, and there are figures watching from a distant doorway and one of the windows of the house. There are four sheep in the left foreground. River and bank, including willow leaning into the water and other trees, in right foreground. A wooden house is visible through the trees to the right. There is a cloudy sky above. Text printed under image reads 'W.Noble delt.' on left and 'S.Alken fecit.' on right. Handwriting on back of image reads 'Published 1806 by W.NOBLE 23 ARLINGTON ST CAMDEN TOWN/View of Hall Place School (underlined)/near Baxley, Kent'. Bottom left hand side of reverse has handwriting which reads '10-/A14'.
