Object Detail

Brief Description
Hand coloured etching of a lady leaning a cricket bat with her legs slightly crossed. Lady is wearing a hat, a pink blouse with blue ribbon, and a blue skirt. There is a set of wickets from the period (2 stumps with bail) in the ground behind the bat, and a cricket ball on the ground in front of the bat. There is a fence, a tent and some trees in the background. Image is etched within an oval frame, which carries the words '1785/THE LADIES CRICKET CLUB'. Handwriting on reverse consists of a name which appears to read 'R.M. Sanguine' and is presumably the name of the artist. Below this are the words ' "MISS WICKET" ', which may be a title for the image.
