Object Detail

Brief Description
Miniature cricket bat with parquetry inlays on both faces of the bat. The bat comes apart into three pieces. The middle section is hollow, and the cavity originally held three shims of timber veneer. Veneer shims are stored separately in foam packing. Two of the veneers are unmarked, and one has been signed by the members of the 1st Test teams for the India / Australia series in 1947 / 48. Bat is stored in a timber box with hinged lid and single clip fastener, lined with felt. The box has parquetry inlaid designs on the outer lid, and 4 circular wooden feet on bottom.
