Brief Description
One gold (left) and one silver (right) AU$5.00 coins mounted between two pieces of clear and blue acrylic. The gold coin features on the obverse a bridge and repeated 'relay baton' motif below the 2006 Commonwealth Games logo, and the logo for the Queen's Baton Relay (which features an image of a crown). Below this is the text, "MELBOURNE / 2006 // 5 DOLLARS / XVIII COMMONWEALTH GAMES". The reverse of the coin features the head of Queen Elizabeth II in profile with the surrounding text, "ELIZABETH II / AUSTRALIA 2006". The obverse of the silver coin features a silhouette of the Melbourne city skyline behind the logo for the 2006 Commonwealth Games with the accompanying text, "XVIII COMMONEWALTH GAMES / MELBOURNE 2006". The reverse features the head of Queen Elizabeth II in profile with the surrounding text, ELIZABETH II / AUSTRALIA 2006 / 5 DOLLARS". Below the two coins in the acrylic mount is the text, "Presented to / The Hon Justin Madden MLC / Minister for the commonwealth Games / In appreciation for his contribution to the success / of the 2006 Commonwealth Games".
