Brief Description

Letter books, containing copy business letters and telegrams created by the office of the Melbourne Cricket Club Secretary. These letters provide evidence of the range of business activities conducted by the Club.

Physical Description

Bound letterpress books with green or brown cloth cover and ochre spine; containing variously between 250 to 750 translucent pages (35 gsm), with a printed number at top corner of each page. Material comprises mainly handwritten manuscript copies (and some typescript copies) of letters and telegrams. Each book has an alphabetical index at front, and correspondence is sorted by first letter of recipient's surname, however items are listed in chronological order in these groupings.
