Object Detail

Brief Description
Photograph taken of the Australian XI while sailing to South Africa on tour in 1935-36. Taken by Moira Dowling (nee Sullivan), who was a passenger on the ship. This photograph depicts Australian cricketer Leo O'Brien, with a camera on deck. Inscription on the back reads, "On the ship every one called everyone else 'Beau' but in O'Brien case we made the exception and called him 'Mo' but not on account of his likeness to a certain well known [sic] theatricial [sic] artist. He's a very bright lad and this is his first trip abroad".
