Brief Description
Photograph, depicting members of the Australian XI while sailing to South Africa on tour in 1935-36. Taken by Moira Dowling (nee Sullivan), who was a passenger on the ship. This photograph features Stan McCabe and Bill O'Reilly, signed by both players. Handwritten inscription on reverse reads, "Did you ever see / Napoleon Bonaparte and / Julius Cesar __ __ / __? Well look closely / and perhaps you will. / Tiger they call O'Reilly / because he tears into / his cricket so earnestly. / He's a __ __. Shame / I've already given your / __ __ __". Written in red ink below inscription, "Stan McCabe (L) / Bill O'Reilly (R) / 2 greats of Test / Cricket / on route to England".
