Brief Description
Metal sign for official opening of the Australian Gallery of Sport. At top of sign logo of the Australian Gallery of Sport. Below logo the text "THE AUSTRALIAN GALLERY OF SPORT JOINTLY FUNDED BY THE MELBOURNE CRICKET CLUB AND THE AUSTRALIAN AND VICTORIAN GOVERNMENTS WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED BY THE HON. R.J.L. HAWKE A.C., M.P., PRIME MINISTER OF AUSTRALIA ON 22 NOVEMBER, 1986" Text on bottom of sign reads "FOUNDATION PATRON - Westpac Banking Corporation". For display in the National Sports Museum.
On the reverse are 6 bolts for securing the object to a surface (this statement is an estimate based on observations of the plaque whilst on display in the National Sports Museum).
