Brief Description
A commemorative medal presented to Maureen Caird, member of the Athletics Team representing Australia at the Edinburgh Games. The medal features the established design of the British Commonwealth Games - an Imperial crown surrounded by an unbroken chain of links; the year '1970'; and text that reads 'IX BRITISH/ COMMONWEALTH / GAMES/ EDINBURGH/ SCOTLAND'. Above and below the linked chain, lettering reads 'COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL'. On the reverse side is a rampant lion surrounded by shield insets containing the Saltire and Thistle.
