Brief Description
A photo album with dark brown leatherette cover. Title: WITH THE AUSTRALIAN/OLYMPIC TEAM/1924 on front cover in gold coloured letters. Metal clasp with two screws and bolt. All black and white photographs compiled and labelled by Australian middle-distance runner, Jack Newman, travelling with the 1924 Australian Olympic team to Paris for the 1924 Olympic Games. Photographs provide a very detailed account of an Australian Olympian's journey around the world - going to, and returning from an Olympic Games in the early 20th century. Images from Australia (departure and return), Sri Lanka, Yemen, Egypt, Italy, France, Belgium, England, Ireland, the U.S.A., and New Zealand feature, and include training, competition, and social images of Australian track and field, swimming, cycling, and tennis athletes.
