Brief Description
Black and white photograph Australian tennis player, Mrs. H. C. Hopman of Australia walking on to the Centre Court at Wimbledon with Katherine (Kay) Menzies of Britain where Mrs. Hopman was later defeated and Kay Menzies went on to enter the last eight of the championship. The two women are both wearing white tennis shorts and cardigans and each hold two rackets. Inscription on reverse, typed in black ink, "FRIENDLY RIVALS/AUSTRALIAN AND BRITISH PLAYERS MEET AT WIMBLEDON/PHOTO SHOWS.................LUD June 30th 1947 PN g"; copyright stamp, blue ink, "PLANET NEWS LTD".
