Brief Description
Ornate coloured certificate featuring picture, reprinted from a photographic image, of large group of cyclists sitting and standing. Lower right hand corner is missing; green and pink floral design at left; clock tower and route along right; Inscription, at top "CENTURY RUN" ; at centre, "Nov 5th 1895 / AS A MEMENTO / of the first Century run held in the / Southern Hemisphere, / this Certificate is presented to [ space for name to be entered] / who successfully accomplished the / run of 100 miles in 12 hours"; handwritten portion has faded. Banners at side give route - Melbourne to Woodend via Romsey & Lancefield & return via Gisborne and Keilor.
