1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games relay torch with case and instruction booklet. Brass plated aluminium bowl and tan leather bound shaft. Bowl is gradually tapered with 'CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS' around top. Etched central design around bowl - building with arched openings, 3 main entrances with LOS ANGELES MEMORIAL COLISEUM' with flame symbol above. Bowl tapered down to leather bound shaft. Third down on shaft is brass band with 'Games of the/XXIIIrd Olympiad/Los Angeles 1984' impressed in front. Lower end of shaft is brass band with manufacturer's name and the Los Angeles Olympics logo. Under lower end of shaft is thread cap for access into shaft. Inside bowl is black coated metal reserve for flame, which was propane fuelled. Includes black vinyl cone shaped presentation case with black zip along side and around lower end. Graphics of person running with torch, with inscription below, reading: '© 1983 LAOOC Torch Relay Foundation', in white. Instruction booklet is 12 pages, long thin booklet with glossy colour cover with ignited relay torch on angle from left. Title and subtitle read: OPERATING/AND/SAFETY/INSTRUCTIONS/1984/OLYMPIC/TORCH'. Graphics of person running with ignited relay torch, lower right corner. Back cover is gold-coloured. Instructions contained within the document are accompanied by illustrations showing the torch's use.
