Brief Description
Gold medal won by C.H. Gardner (hurdler) for 1st place in the 120 Yards Hurdles. Event held as part of the Commonwealth Games celebrations in Sydney, 1901. Obverse features the six badges of Australia's states with England's badge and a crown at the top. Text in legend reads "COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA / 1901". On reverse, text framed by a wreath reads, in part "...COMMONWEALTH / CELEBRATIONS / SYDNEY / 1901 / PRESENTED TO / C.H. GARDNER". Text detailing event around rim.
