Object Detail

Brief Description
Postcard with a black and white photograph of the English cricket team on tour in Australia, 1920-21. The photo is said to have been taken in Adelaide, where the third test of the series was played in January 1921. The picture is set outdoors and shows seventeen men arranged in three rows in front of an ivy-covered wall. Most are wearing cricket whites with England touring blazers and caps. Their expressions are decidedly glum, unsurprising as they had lost the first two test matches of the series and went on to lose the remaining three!
