Brief Description
Sepia toned photograph featuring the members of the South Australian and Victorian Lacrosse Teams of 1892 gathered informally on Richmond Cricket Ground. Thirty men are standing, kneeling or sitting in three rows, many holding their racquets. Several men wear wide striped cricket blazers and/or matching caps. Officials wear suits and three also wear a top hat or bowler. Trees, a picket fence and some spectators form the backdrop. Inscription, at top edge of mount, elaborately handwritten in black, "Second Interstate Lacrosse Match / Victoria V South Australia / 1892 / Richmond Cricket Ground"; handwritten along lower edge of mount, names of players BACK ROW: W.J. Mountain, [?] Evans, [?] Farneaux, C. Search, H. Murray, J. Cole, G. Batchelor, C. McCall, H. Tisdale, [?] Knight, W.B. House, M. Davine, P. Shappera.
