Brief Description
A 16-page (cover inclusive) booklet featuring a history of the Ancient and Modern Olympic Games, as well as a history of Melbourne's bid and preparation for the upcoming 1956 Games. Yellow, brown and white front cover, features a naked ancient athlete carrying a torch. Inscription: 'The story of the/OLYMPIC GAMES/ISSUED IN THE INTEREST OF AMATEUR SPORT AND AS AN ADVANCE/SOUVENIR OF THE 1956 OLYMPIC GAMES IN MELBOURNE BY/THE OLYMPIC TYRE AND RUBBER COMPANY/Founder: Sir Frank Beaurepaire'. Handwritten in graphite across front is the name: 'Val Thomson'.
