Object Detail

Brief Description
A 232-page (cover exclusive) programme, titled, "ANGLO-SAXON / GUIDE / TO THE / 1900 / PARIS / EXHIBITION". An English version of the programme produced for the Exposition Universelle Internationale, (or popularly, the 1900 Paris Exhibition, in English), held in Paris, France, in 1900. The 1900 Paris Olympic Games were incorporated within the Exposition, however, no mention of it is made in the Programme. The cover features a print of a design by John Hassall, featuring the female personification of the Anglo-Saxon race, seated on a step with the British and United States flags draped over her shoulder. She holds a wreath in her hand. A handwritten inscription on the front cover reads, "W.W. Batstone".
