A rounded square-shaped gold-like badge. The centre of the badge is quartered, and three of the four sections have green enamelled fields. From left to right, top to bottom, the themes in each section are: the Olympic Rings emblem, a symbol of Discus, a symbol of Shot put, and, a symbol of Running. Around the rim is a border which is halved across the middle. The upper register is red, the lower is white. The relief inscription around the combined registers reads: S.S.S.R/MJUNKHEN 1972. (trans.
