Brief Description
Trophy, silver with wooden base. Presented to M W Kroger by radio station 3LO in 1927. Replica microphone set on a circular wooden plinth. Silver-plated round microphone with flared base. Features a pattern of cut-out holes spaced evenly on all sides with fine mesh behind. On one side are letters spelling "MELBOURNE" and "3LO". A shield-shaped inscription plate with laurels around lower half on side of base; engraving reads: "AUSTRALIAN & NEW ZEALAND / RECORD POLE VAULT / M. W. KROGER / Geelong Pres Guild Harriers / 11 Feet 7 1/2 Inches / Amateur Sports Ground Melbourne / 1927 / Presented by / 3LO / MELBOURNE". Maker's metal stamp (Dunkling's Jewellers) is recessed into underside of base. Trophy is stored in two parts - base and trophy.
