Brief Description
Postcard featuring a black and white, half-length portrait photograph of a man with arms folded. The image is signed 'Yours faithfully/ Alick Wickham'. Pencilled annotations on the reverse include 'Alick Wickham/ (See article for [illegible])'. A label adhering to the card, bearing red typed text, requests that the card be returned to Frank Beaurepaire. Wickham has been credited, by sports journalist Ron Brunton, with introducing 'freestyle' - the 'Australian crawl' - to Australia from the Solomans in the 1890s.
