Brief Description
Letter, small, single page; written on 25 February 1935 to Donald Mackintosh by Rudyard Kipling: "Dear Mr Mackintosh, / Your letter of Armistice Day '34 / has just come in with a covering letter from / Captain C. W. A Scott, announcing the safe / delivery of the elephant tusk which you were so / good as to send me. We have been down here for / the past few weeks, but my Secretary in England / tells me that it is "no end of a tusk," and I look / forward to doing a good deal of sound work with / it on my return. One wants a weapon of that kind / nowadays! // Very gratefully yours / Rudyard Kipling". Typed, buff paper, "CALIFORNIE PALACE / CANNES" letterhead. Accompanying envelope is 1987.1695.21.
