Letter, small, single page; written on 19 May 1936 to Donald Mackintosh by Caroline Kipling: "Dear Mr. Mackintosh, // I thank you very much for your / letter and for the interesting / article which you enclosed. // I think that my husband did / receive your card and the bookmark, / and I think would have answered it / except that a great flood of letters / came for him for his birthday which / was on 30th December, and then al- / most immediately afterwards he was / taken ill. // I thank you for your sympathy, / And am, / Sincerely yours, / Caroline Kipling". Typed, buff paper with black border, "BURWASH ETCHINGHAM" letterhead. Accompanying envelope is 1987.1695.14.
